i would prefer my credentials to include

cello player

tarot card reader

restaurant critic for Italy’s quaintest cafes

        

maybe even marine biologist

making headlines

while rescuing beached dolphins and

giving interviews to hungry reporters

in seven different languages

instead i meet Boudica

at the dimly lit bar on the corner

she sips her stinger and slips me

a cocktail of a different kind

just in case, she murmurs

i tuck the vile of poison

into my torn purple prAna bag

muster up courage

and walk down a shadowed path

to meet Fate’s Three Sisters
